The Artist Housekeeping Post

To give our artists a heads up on the way they'll be claiming their stories, here's an outline of the way we'll be proceeding with the art claims.

The artist claiming post will go up on Tuesday, July 9th at 5:30 p.m. BST. (That's British Summer Time. You can use the World Clock Time Zone Converter to determine the time in your location.)

The claiming post will contain all the story summaries, under a cut, and without the writers' names. The post will be screened, so your friendly mods will be the only ones to see all comments.

Artists should comment to the post, and include their first, second, third, and fourth choices for story claims.

Important Note: This year we have quite a few more artists/vidders signed up than writers. This means that several stories will be assigned two artists/vidders so that everyone gets a chance to play. We hope that everyone is happy with this - we are thrilled that so many artists want to get involved and some lucky writers will end up with more art for their stories :) To ensure fairness, all artists/vidders could potentially find themselves working on a story that is also assigned to one of their fellow artists. We hope that everyone will see this as 'the more the merrier', but if any artist is uncomfortable with this arrangement and feels that they would rather pull out at this stage, of course we will completely understand. We just ask that anyone wishing to withdraw let the mod squad know, either in the comments here, or by PMing one of the mods, or emailing prosbigbang@gmail.com, before the Artist Claiming Post goes up on Tuesday.

The mods will do a first pass through the list, starting with the first comment, and assign each artist their first story. If your first choice has already been chosen, you will be assigned your second pick.

We chose this method to ensure:

  • that every artists gets a reasonable shot of getting a first or second choice, and…

  • that artists who claim early will get their story assigned early, so they can get to work on art as quickly as possible.

  • Please note that once you have claimed a story, you'll be getting the rough draft of that story, so you don't have to work just from the summary.

Let us know if you have any questions. And thanks once again to our artists for volunteering their time and talent.
