When It All Comes Tumbling Down by Marjoram Max
Title: When It All Comes Tumbling Down
Author: marjorammax
Artist: SCH scherwood
Archive to Pros Lib: Yes
Genre: Slash
Characters/Pairing: Bodie/Doyle
Word count: 43,047
Warnings: AU; Explicit M/M, not safe for work (story and artwork).

Summary: Struggling single dad and ex-cop Ray Doyle falls in lust the moment he follows his new neighbour up the stairs. Once he gets to know the enigmatic William Phillips, love soon follows. But what’s a straight laced ex-copper to do when he finds out the object of his dreams is actually negotiating an illegal arms deal for the mobster who employs him?

Notes: When this year’s Professionals Big Bang was announced this story came to me virtually in its entirety. It begged to be written even though I had never actually sat down and written anything other than initial story ideas. I ummed and ahhed for weeks and finally decided “what the hell”. I’m so glad I gave it a go. Despite the nerves and insecurities along the way, I have had a blast! I have obviously found the right fandom and actually having a deadline has worked wonders for me. I can’t wait to do it all again.

But, I wouldn’t be here without:

anna060957 and piskiedust for knocking WIACTD into shape, pointing out the obvious and not-so-obvious mistakes and providing many helpful suggestions (and I apologise now for not acting on them all); scherwood for the absolutely fantastic artwork which has brought my story to life (and for doing the html for me as I hadn’t a clue); londonronnie for helping me find the perfect locations and background info way back in the beginning; and finally all the mods and members of CI5 Box of Tricks who have been so supportive and made this complete newbie feel very welcome.

Yea, we did it!!! And it looks absolutely brilliant with the embedded artwork - so glad we could do that.

Thank you for the gorgeous artwork, the coding, the hand-holding, etc. I was so lucky to find you - I would still have been flailing around in the dark without your help.

I'm so chuffed you love WIACTD - what a boost to my confidence. And with encouragement like this, how could I not write more?

:)

I don't think we have anything from you in Proslib, unless it's under a different name, so checking if there's any e-mail you'd like included.

Looking forward to reading it!

Yea, I made it! Thank you for all your help and support, and fitting me in at short notice :) I have plans for a sequel which will obviously need beta-ing when it's done (hint, hint).

And the artwork is amazing. It makes the story!

I can't believe how much I enjoyed writing it. I just wished I'd stopped procrastinating and actually got down to writing years ago.

I hope you enjoy it :)

I know what you mean about real life. I just want to sit and read and I haven't had much chance. Meanwhile, the stories are mounting up. Oh well, there should be lots of time with the dark, autumn evenings approaching. I hope you enjoy WIACTD when you get round to reading it.

Congratulations on getting this up and polished! I must have missed it afew days ago, but it didn't get past my week-end catch-up.
marjorammaxmarjorammax on October 22nd, 2012 08:29 pm (UTC)
Thank you! And thank you for your help with the polishing process. Your attention to ("historic") detail really helped make WIACTD much stronger.

I must do some catching up on reading myself. Real life is not letting me keep up with the posting schedule.

:)
